About the Training
Why it matters — and why it's now law
The Government has issued the code of practice for Health and Social Care providers with clear guidelines on who should be trained and at which tier. Oliver McGowan is the preferred training for the CQC — and any alternative must include delivery with experts with lived experience.
Local Authorities are increasingly stating Oliver McGowan as the only acceptable autism and learning disability training when assessing bids and contracts.
Our Tier 2 training is face-to-face, 8 hours per session, with a short online pre-read to complete beforehand.
Who Needs Tier 2?
The code of practice states Tier 2 should be delivered to:

David Donaldson
NHS England Approved Tier 2 Facilitator Trainer (#OM-25-2572). Qualified June 2025, valid until June 2028. Nursing background with deep commitment to raising care standards for people with autism and learning disabilities.
Expert Co-Trainers
All sessions are co-delivered with Tier 1 and Tier 2 experts by experience — people with autism and learning disabilities who bring genuine lived insight to every session. This is an Oliver McGowan requirement, not an optional extra.
Provider Network
We work with providers to access facilitator training and our network of co-trainers so they can work towards in-house delivery — helping you build lasting internal capability rather than external dependency.
Pricing
Highly competitive, CQC-compliant training
We appreciate how difficult it can be to take staff out of the field. We work with you on scheduling — including sharing session places across providers.
Standard Rate
per delegate, based on 30 delegates per session. You provide the training venue.
With Venue
per delegate when we provide facilities. Based on 30 delegates. Contact us for venue-inclusive pricing.
Note: Rate is £70/delegate if you provide the training facilities.
Sessions are 8 hours face-to-face. Delegates complete a short online module before attending. Multiple providers can share places on any given day.
